From our first year of activity we got involved in projects regarding the current social issues. One of the first problems on the Romanian citizens' agenda, a problem that has been the focus of both Romanian administration and the EU negotiations process, was the transparency in decision making and a better and more useful relationship between the citizens and the local administration.
The "Growth of local democracy” project was carried out between 2005 and 2006, in partnership with the Dutch foundation "Transforma” and with the financial help of MATRA. The main objective of the project was to increase decision making transparency at local level as well as to enhance the degree of collaboration between the local administration and the citizens. Over a one year period, the local administration structures from six counties were monitored for the purpose of identifying the problems that appear in the collaboration with the citizens. Hundreds of interviews, tens of case studies, questionnaire based social studies, all revealed a series of conclusions meant to build one of the most useful instruments for improving the activity of the local administration, a "best practice guide" which can be used by the local administration's public servants as a very useful guide in their relationship with the citizens. The Real Society foundation dedicated 2007 to the issue of health and health system. In partnership with the Association of Journalists in the Field of Medicine and the Association of Sexual Healthcare of Romania we deployed several projects focused on the issue of disabled individuals and how they can be integrated in the work force, the issue of education in the healthcare field, relationships and sexual education, especially in the case of teenagers and young people.
In 2007, getting closer to young people and the problems they face in developing their personality gave us a just value of our work and meant the start of our involvement and activism in collaborating with organizations that promote volunteering and volunteering based projects.
In 2009 we celebrated the European Year of Innovation and Creativity by developing two projects ("You were born to be creative" and "My room- the Hall of inventics") implemented in partnership with City Hall of District 1 and the Secondary schools from the 1st District of Bucharest.
